SEASON PREVIEW

The weather may be keeping us guessing, but.... Summer will be here before you know it!. And with summer comes FREE CONCERTS. Time to start thinking about what we have to look forward to!

Here is what we have in store for the summer of 2017:
  • Celebrate Brooklyn has now announced their schedule! Opening Night Concert - Lake Street Dive, on June 7th. Other highlights include Pharaoh Sanders' Coltrane Tribute (June 23rd), Soul Rebels (June 24th), RobertRandolph (July 13th), Bela Fleck (August 3rd) and Youssou N'Dour (August 12th).
  • Central Park Summerstage has already announced their busy schedule of music, dance, comedy and more, starting with Mavis Staples and Toshi Reagon on June 3rd, followed by George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic at Flushing Meadow Park on June 11th. The Klezmatics bring Yiddish Soul on June 14th... Jazz with Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks and Catherine Russell on July 1st... The Ohio Players, Buffy Sainte-Marie, a Fela tribute, Yo La Tengo , even Taj Mahal and Keb Mo, mean a great season!
  • The annual Charlie Parker Jazz Festival now includes July and August dates included in the lineup, that covers the entire city!
  • River to River has announced their schedule including Arts at Brookfield.
  • Madison Square Park has announced their summer music schedule for both kids and adults.
  • Shakespeare in the Park opens May 23rd with Julius Ceaser, followed by A Midsummer Night's Dream on July 11th.
  • Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors -Will be great, as always! Kicks off on July 26th- highlights include Dionne Warwick (July 29th), Angelique Kidjo recreating Talking Heads' Remain In Light on August 2nd, Nick Lowe with Los Straitjackets on August 5th and the Roots of American Music on August 12th & 13th.
  • Hudson River Park will have music, movies and much more including the great Blues BBQ on August 19th (with Dumpstaphunk and the Campbell Brothers!).
  • BAM R & B at Metrotech in downtown Brooklyn will make Thursday lunchtimes amazing! Gets underway on June 8th with Ramsey Lewis - highlights include John Hammond on June 28th and Preservation Hall Jazz Band on July 20th.
  • The Brooklyn Concerts is BACK in Coney Island at the new Coney Island Amphitheater on the Boardwalk is opening in July!, The Martin Luther King, Jr. shows at Wingate Field will also be back!
  • The 4 Knots Music Festival at South Street Seaport - will be back in July..
  • Coney Island's Mermaid Parade returns on June 17th. One of Brooklyn's biggest parties!
  • The Lowdown Hudson Music Fest - July 18th & 19th, will include Common and OK Go.
  • Long Islanders won't be left out, as shown on the Long Island Concerts page - with great music from Town of Hempstead , Nassau County Oyster Bay, North Hempstead, Babylon (with Gloria Gaynor on July 21st, Peter Noone on August 2nd, and Blue Oyster Cult on August 4th) and the Huntington Arts Council's shows at Heckscher Park (Rita Coolidge - June 28th, Slaid Cleaves (July 30th), Christine Lavin (July 31st) and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum on August 12th.
  • And what else is still to come? The House of Vans and just about everything else will be back this summer!
