Little by little, the weather is getting warmer. Spring is here, and summer can't be too far behind. And that means FREE CONCERTS season is coming soon!
It is still too early to know exactly what will be coming our way this summer, but here are a few hints:
- Central Park Summerstage, has announced the 2013 season already, which includes Shuggy Otis, Bobby McFerrin and events such as the 40th Anniversary of Hip Hop, Comedy Central and NPR's Ask Me Another.
- Celebrate Brooklyn has already announced their opener with Patty Griffin on June 5th, and will kick off their Dance Parties at Brooklyn Bridge Park with a New Orleans Dance Party featuring Big Sam's Funky Nation on May 9th!. Their fee shows this season include Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Wynton Marsalis, Mavis Staples, Calexico and the Waterboys.
- Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys bring their Cajun sounds to Huntington this summer.
- And what else? Madison Square Park (opens June 19th with Suzanne Vega), River to River (with Laurie Anderson and Leon Russell), BAM R & B, Coney Island, the 4 Knots Music Festival at South Street Seaport, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors (Nick Lowe, Ruben Blades, Allen Toussaint, The Crickets), the Lackawanna Music Festival in Hoboken, the AfroPunk Fest and Williamsburg Park in Brooklyn, House of Vans, RiverRocks … the list goes on and on, with many blank (for now!) pages. Keep visiting FreeConcertsNYC for the news and updates and what will be the best shows this summer! Remember -
